Why I Created This Blog (And What To Expect Here)

My name is Cassie Bossmann, and I'm a clarinetist with a passion for sharing joy through gaming and anime music. As many other people did during 2020, I decided to take up a new personal passion project. I made a small investment in some musical gear and got my first condenser microphone, downloaded my first video software, audio editing software, and made my very first gaming cover on the clarinet of Gerudo Valley from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Now, I only posted this cover on my personal Facebook account to share with my peers. I didn't have a YouTube channel at the time, but I have linked below the oldest cover from my YouTube account.

Around 2006, when it was time for me to join band in middle school, I ended up playing the clarinet. I grew up watching my sister practice her clarinet at home, and because we didn't have a lot of money growing up, I inherited her old clarinet. Outside of school, I spent a lot of my free time either playing video games like the Zelda series, or watching various anime shows. After graduating and going through music school and getting a couple degrees in music and education, I worked as a music educator for a few years. I quickly burnt myself out with giving myself such high expectations and not enough grace. I now work a job that's more conducive to my mental health and allows more work-life balance. Because of this, I spend a portion of my free time continuing to indulge in my passion for music.

I genuinely love making these covers and connecting with my audience over the nostalgia these videos bring. As a musician, learning and performing these familiar tunes has given me a community and inspired me to keep pursuing my passion.

At the intersection of music, games, anime, and creativity, my blog aims to be a welcoming space for anyone interested in those topics and beyond. As a clarinetist and content creator, I share my processes, experiences, and tips from producing videos covering music from games and anime.

The behind-the-scenes look will provide fellow musicians and creators an inside perspective on translating passion into engaging content. For gaming and anime fans, I offer a window into how their favorite soundtracks inspire new musical arrangements. Drawing from my educational background, I also provide helpful advice for musicians looking to improve their skills or pick up the clarinet.

This blog will chronicle my explorations wearing many hats: musician, fan, creator, and teacher. While anchored in those communities, this blog will also branch out to anything relatable from my adventures. Follow along for an inclusive experience bridging music, media, education, and creativity. There’s something for every reader seeking motivation and insight.

With over 17 years of clarinet-playing under my belt, music has been a constant passion since I first picked up the instrument in 2006. As a mixed race woman of color, I bring a diverse cultural perspective to the table both personally and musically. My journey studying music education and performance in college gave me strong foundations in musicianship and teaching. I'm excited to connect with you through sharing my musical life experiences as a clarinetist, educator, creator, and fan. Join me as we explore all things music, creativity, and more!
